Rudy Welveart is the composer of this beautiful Christmas children´s song. After creating the Saint Nicolas, Patron des écoilers song and it being a hit in Belgium, Rudy decided to do another song called Saint Nicholas, Little Rogue. This new song decided to do it in Dutch language because Rudy Welveart wanted to explore and create a new beat with totally different lyrics than his first hit in order to bring a new experience to the listeners in Belgium. As already mentioned in Belgium there are two figures of Santa Claus: one of them is Saint Nicholas and the other is Santa Claus and this new song is also directed towards Saint Nicholas.

Every year, on the night of December 6, Saint Nicholas brings gifts to all the children who have behaved very well during the year. During that night, the children put a shoe in front of the fireplace and put a carrot or turnip inside for Saint Nicholas´ horse. Saint Nicholas also has a servant, they paint him as black (although currently that is very racist, but it´s the tradition). His name in Dutch is "Zwarte Piet" (Black Peter). The Saint Nicholas tradition is very similar in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. And the children sing numerous songs and one of the best known is Saint Nicholas, Little Rogue.

This song has a very slow rhythm compared to the song by Saint Nicholas, Patron des écoliers, however,  the rhythm of the song is very calm, which generates peace for the people who listen and sing it. The lyrics of the song have diminutives which makes the song very tender. The song tells us that the children sing this song so that Saint Nicholas left them some gifts in their shoes or in their bags and they also thank Saint Nicholas for having left them a gift.
